In a recent development, the West Bengal government is under scrutiny for not sharing data on disabled individuals with the central government, leading to allegations of manipulation and corruption.

The Calcutta High Court has reprimanded the state government for this lapse, revealing that not only is the state withholding data on the central portal created for a nationwide disabled persons' database, but it has also established a separate portal with undisclosed details.

Leader of Opposition Subhendu Adhikari has raised concerns, alleging that the state government, to misappropriate central funds, has created a fake list of disabled individuals, including its own party workers. Adhikari claims that 70 percent of the disabled allowance is sourced from the central government, and the state government is involved in looting these funds. I

n a recent court hearing, the Chief Justice questioned the need for a separate state portal when a central portal already exists, and the court is seeking answers from the West Bengal government regarding the non-disclosure of state data.
